The Digital Gaze

In 2019-2020 I completed my Masters in Illustration with a project titled ‘The Digital Gaze’. The aim of this project was to visually represent the presence of an unacknowledged digital audience that observes us when we interact with technology. The final form of this project was a series of 360 degree illustrated panoramas that are designed to hide an audience behind digital interaction.

You can see the full development of this project and all accompanying works at aliciahempsted.art.blog

Before deciding on panoramic illustrations I had experimented with augmented reality and Spark AR Studio. This animation is part of a complete AR effect that allowed viewers to scan a printed image and reveal an overlaying animation on their phone.
